Ministry Coordinator Blog

July 2022 Monthly Blog

ssummer fun 1I hope you all have had a chance to attend one of Fr Jerry’s Mass's. Each one has been a Blessing. Be sure to introduce yourself to our new Pastor.
I know Father would appreciate that.

We had our SVdP Eastern Deanery meeting on June 25th. It was very informative covering everything from St. Vincent de Paul history to how we can serve our neighbors in need.  This month we were able to help several cases with utilities and food cards. For the first time we were able to purchase a Greyhound bus ticket for a gentleman so he could get back home to Morgan City, LA after attending a family funeral in our area.  We will have our next SPCC SVdP July 11th at 5:30 pm.

We will be starting a new ministry called Blessings. The main purpose will be to provide parishioners rides to weekend Masses. It is my hope that the ministry will expand to provide a meal to any of our parishioners who are sick.  Please contact me if you are willing to participate in this new ministry.  CLICK to email or call the office.

Each week our SPCC bulletin will feature one of our ministries. We recently featured SOS/Service Outreach Social. I hope to spark interest in this very active ministry and encourage you to join.  Watch the bulletin to learn about the Flocknote Online Prayer and Blanket Ministry Group. This new ministry was started about six months ago with the idea that everyone in the group would receive weekly prayers and actively participate by sending their prayers and prayer requests and respond to the prayer requests of others. Everyone in the group can and should participate. Another Flocknote prayer ministry is the prayer blanket ministry which was combined into the Online Prayer Group.  We are seeking more members and hoping the group will become more interactive. To join this group you have to be on St. Paschal Flocknote. Flocknote is our parish communications tool that allows us to send and receive emails and texts to our parishioners. Once you are a SPCC Flocknote member you will automatically receive emails or texts from the groups you are in. No need to log in to Flocknote to receive your messages.  We want you so text SPCCWM to 84576. During your sign up you can join the Online Prayer Group and any other groups that you want to receive communications from. If you have any questions click to email.

I hope everyone is having a great summer!
Until next month,

As usual, things have been busy around here! Our St Paschal Parish Picnic and Ministry Fair was a great success. The poster displays done by the various ministries were excellent. A big shout out to all those that put so much work into making the Ministry Fair fabulous!june clipart cute T

We bid farewell to Father Pike. Working with him on the ministry projects was a rewarding experience. Best wishes in his future endeavors. Peace be with you Father.

As of June 1st we welcome our new pastor Fr Jerry Daigle. I truly believe that having Fr Jerry shepherding our parish will bring us many blessings. I have recently had the chance to speak with Father Jerry and I found him to be most attentive to the needs of the ministries. Besides that a great listener and all-round nice guy.

At St Paschal on June 25th we will be hosting a special event for St Vincent de Paul. This event will be a function of the Eastern Deanery of SVDP. The guest speaker will be Jim Beetles, the head of SVDP for the Diocese of Shreveport . Our next St. Paschal Society regular meeting is June 13th at 5:30 in St Francis Room.

We are in desperate need of people for the Video Team. If you are willing and able we will train you! Contact the Church Office.

May 2022

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holy Week. Now onto May! We had many young ones receive their First Communion. Father Mike Thang’Wa made it special with his beautiful homily. I can’t say enough about Kathy Wallace, our Director of Religious Education. She works so hard for our parish. Everything she plans goes off without a hitch.

Mary Ann Rambin has let me know that the Meals on Wheels Ministry recipients actually get two meals; one hot and a sack lunch. This is great news. I know the MOW gang works hard at feeding those in need.

The Bereavement Ministry has been busy providing meals for families in our parish that have lost a loved one. I would like to thank them for their time and talent. They are a treasure to our church.

Vacation Bible School is coming!! June 13 thru 17 will be “ MONUMENTAL”!
Celebrating God's Greatness!! We are asking for monetary donations to help cover food and supplies. Envelopes are available in church and you can your donations in the collection basket or drop them off at the church offfice. Your support is greatly appreciated.

It’s that time of year when our Supermen i.e.The Knights of Columbus are collecting box fans for St. Vincent de Paul who will distribute them to those in need. They will be collecting them until the end of August. Please bring fans to the church office.Church Picnic Ministry Fair sm

In closing I would like to remind everyone about our  Feast St Paschal Parish Picnic and Ministry Fair Celebration on May 22. There will only be one Mass that day at 10:00 am. After the mass we will head over to the Parish Hall for one heck of a good time. BBQ served, please bring your favorite dessert to share.

Until June, peace and everything good!

April Blog

Late again with the blog! So many things have been  happening in April at St Paschal. busy bees I missed part of the month as I was in Houston with my husband. He is on the mend and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers.

Holy Week and Easter were beautiful and moving experiences. Father Pike said the events were the most gratifying of his career. He has been such a blessing to our parish.

The Flower Ministry worked very hard this month.  The church was beautiful during this time.  The Easter decorations were magnificent.  They work with so many different ministries to help make their events look great!

The St Paschal Society of St Vincent de Paul has been able to increase their caseload because of the kind and generous donations from our parish. We have also been able to purchase Food Cards which are available at the church office for those who call or come to the office in need of help with food. Our conference has been asked to host a special seminar for the Eastern Deanery of SVDP on Saturday, June 25.  The speaker will be Jim Beetles who heads SVDP for the Diocese of Shreveport. All members of SVDP in the Eastern Deanery will be there for this important learning experience.

We have been so busy and we need more help to carry out our mission.  Please consider joining our ministry, we meet the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the St Francis Room.

Another busy month coming in May, until then Peace,

March 2022

Sorry I am a little late with this month’s blog. However, I do want to fill you in on what's going on with the ministries of our parish.

 • SOS put on a great event!  The Mardi Gras celebration on March 1st. The event was well attended and the food, decorations, and music were out of sight! I hope we can make that a yearly happening!

• The Men’s Retreat which occurred earlier this month was a huge success. There were at least 35 men participating. I spoke with a few of the guys and they said it was a powerful spirit-filled event. I hope this too will become a yearly event as I believe interest will only grow.

• Our Lenten season has begun. We have been fortunate to share Bishop Robert Barron’s Word On Fire Engage on Flocknote. St. Paschal parishioners that are signed up on Flocknote have access toword on fire LOGO text and video to help spiritually enrich you during Lent. If you are not registered on Flocknote yet please sign up. Instructions to register have been in the church bulletin. At Father Pike’s suggestion, everyone on Flocknote will be receiving weekly text and videos that are pertinent to each week of Lent. We have had great feedback on this project. It is my hope that this will become so popular that we continue Word On Fire via Flocknote throughout the year.

St Paschal Society of St Vincent de Paul will meet Monday, April 11 at 6:00 pm in the St Francis room. Come be a part of this wonderful ministry.

• Details about the Parish Picnic in May will be in next month's blog!

Until then I pray your spiritual needs are met during this Lenten season.

Peace and everything good,

• Helped a parishioner get her plumbing fixed so she had water before Christmas.

ATTENTION St. Paschal Senior Citizens.  Would you be interested in attending a Senior Lunch Bunch once a month at the Church?
The church would supply the main dish and we could each bring a covered side dish.
We would eat and then play cards or board games. Food, Fun, Fellowship. Please let me know if you are interested and what day of the week would be good.

Cathy Nolan and I have completed a review of the 2021 year activities of the ministry coordinator and how these are addressing the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan for St Paschal Parish. This has been presented to the Pastoral Council.

Until next month peace be with you,

December Blog

Greetings and Blessings to you all!

We are entering Phase II of the Flocknote launch. We have reached our first goal of 100 Flocknote participants! Yea! Phase II will describe to all parishioners what Flocknote does and the benefits of joining. It will also provide ministry leaders with helpful information so they can utilize Flocknote to keep their ministry enlivened by communicating with their ministers. There will be a training session in January in the school cafe featuring an interactive zoom presentation with a representative from Flocknote.jessee tree

The next St Vincent de Paul meeting will be Monday, December 13 at 6:00 pm in the St. Francis Room. We will be electing officers and creating committees and will then be ready to accept cases.

The Parish Mission with Father Jim was well attended and very well received. Special thanks to Kathy Wallace for all her hard work in coordinating this event.

We will begin promoting the online prayer group by encouraging people to sign up on Flocknote to receive weekly communications from this ministry. Each week a prayer or information about prayer is emailed or texted to those who sign up. Interaction among members of the group to ask for prayer requests, to show support for those requesting prayer or share their thoughts about prayer is encouraged. We will introduce this ministry in the bulletin and online soon.

We now have an online parish calendar on our St. Paschal website. A printed version was placed in the December 5th bulletin. The online version will be updated with new events or changes to the current schedule. It is on this website click on CALENDAR in the top menu or Click Here and check it out.
